Relaxing with friends at Rivierplaas

It’s February and summer is in full swing, with extremely hot weather predicted for the weekend we packed our bags, making sure not to forget our swimmies and weaved our way out of an extremely busy Cape Town headed for Rivierplaas, a campsite situated in the area of Scherpenheuwel, south of Worcester.
Rivierplaas makes for an awesome quick weekend getaway destination as it is only an hour and a half’s drive from Cape Town.
Part of Rivierplaas’s charm is the fact that it is situated right on the banks of the Breede River. Our campsite was I02 and we had an epic view of the river as well as ample shade. The campsite is very spacious, with twelve of us there was still more than enough space to spare.
When we arrived on Friday afternoon we were greeted by one of our friends already relaxing at the campsite.
To be honest, we didn’t move from our campsite for the entire weekend, activities for the day consisted of lounging around in the river on lilo’s and all kinds of floatation devices we brought along, more friends arrived on Saturday, it was their kids’ first time camping and they had a blast. Rivierplaas is kid as well as dog-friendly, which makes it an awesome place for the entire family. There are also canoes and a zip-line to have some fun with.
It was an awesome weekend, spent catching up and relaxing with old friends. We’ll definitely be back there again.
